Women in Cybersecurity

Mentoring & Facilitated Peer Learning

Structured support for women in cybersecurity and adjacent fields working through professional, leadership and workplace challenges.

Two formats, different roles: one-to-one mentoring where relevant experience and perspective can be shared, and facilitated peer learning where participants work real challenges through questions, reflection and action.

Two ways I contribute

One-to-one mentoring

I contribute to selected mentoring programmes for women in cybersecurity, including the Women4Cyber Mentorship Programme.

Mentoring may include relevant experience, perspective and constructive feedback; the mentee retains ownership of her goals and decisions.

Facilitated peer learning

Action Learning Circles are small-group sessions built around a real participant-owned challenge.

The group works primarily through questions rather than advice, diagnosis or attempts to solve the challenge for challenge owners.

How an Action Learning Circle
works

One participant brings a real, current challenge. The group helps her examine it through disciplined questions, listening and reflection rather than immediately offering solutions.

The purpose is not to tell the challenge owner what to do. It is to make the challenge clearer, surface assumptions, broaden perspective and identify what the challenge owner can realistically influence or do next.

Challenges that fit the format

What participants
can expect

What participants may gain

  • A clearer understanding of the real challenge.
  • Perspectives they had not considered.
  • Better questions.
  • Greater awareness of what they can influence.
  • One realistic next action.

The wider group learns too, through listening, questioning and reflection on the challenge.

What to expect

  • Small group.
  • One real challenge explored in depth.
  • Question-led facilitation.
  • Reflection and peer learning.
  • Agreed participation and confidentiality boundaries.

Current community Circles are online and typically small.

Programme and institutional formats are scoped to the purpose and audience rather than forced into one standard session design.

Action Learning is confidential professional peer learning, not therapy or specialist advice.

Early pilot evidence from a small sample.

What Professionals
Say About StartYOU

For programmes and institutions

Programme and institutional engagements are scoped separately from STARTYOU’s direct individual engagements.

Format and commercial terms follow the programme brief, duration, responsibilities and funding model.

Mentoring

One-to-one professional mentoring within a defined programme, with clear goals and boundaries.

Action Learning

Employer-Sponsored Action Learning Pilots or Team Challenge Facilitation built around real participant- or team-owned challenges.

Facilitated group sessions

Interactive development sessions using discussion, reflection, exercises and peer learning rather than a one-way presentation.

Future Action Learning Circles

I am continuing to develop Action Learning Circles for women in cybersecurity and adjacent fields. Registering interest does not guarantee a place in a particular session; it allows me to contact you when a potentially suitable Circle is being formed.
